FORMED IN THE CRUCIBLE OF CRISIS: MY APPROACH AND INSIGHTS ON LEADING PFIZER’S EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM

Abstract The author details his experience as chief executive officer (CEO) of Pfizer, a top five global pharmaceutical company, and in particular working with the company’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT). He turnaround from period crisis during previous leadership regime outlines four principles that led to its success. contends these can work for other executives, either corporations, or elsewhere. In words, they are #1: Build trust on ELT. #2: Align fully shared view strategic business challenge needed actions, uniting #3: Link culture change. #4: Keep ELT focused enterprise‐level decisions true cross‐divisional collaboration opportunities. Each principle is described detail, revolving around author’s Pfizer For instance, within #1, he writes, “How CEO responds mistakes build diminish trust, especially but not limited big mistakes.” Within “My goal was common understanding our key challenges there, set strategy game plan creating company we could once again be proud of.”
